Ingredients

  • 8 slices of French or brioche bread, day-old
  • 4 of eggs
  • to taste of oil, for frying
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 of cinnamon stick
  • 3 of cloves
  • to taste of raisins, for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Make the syrup, boil the water with the sugar, cinnamon, and cloves until you get a light syrup. Set aside.
  2. Beat the eggs, beat the eggs until well combined.
  3. Soak the bread, dip each bread slice into the beaten egg, coating both sides well.
  4. Fry, fry the slices in hot oil until golden on both sides.
  5. Drain, remove and drain excess oil on paper towels.
  6. Bathe, place the fried torrejas in a container and bathe them with the warm syrup, letting them absorb it well.
  7. Garnish, garnish with raisins, if desired.
  8. Serve, serve warm or cold.
